I formed my firm to bring in-house counsel services to small and mid-sized businesses that are too small to have their own legal departments. I understand that small businesses face many of the same legal issues and challenges that their large company counterparts do, but historically have not had access to the same legal tools. I bring my perspective as an attorney, entrepreneur and executive manager to provide proactive legal advice, best practices, practical solutions and applied business strategies to support my clients’ goals, solve problems and promote business growth. I call this the Inside/Outside Counsel™ Program.
Prior to creating the Inside/Outside Counsel™ Program in 2011, I was the CEO of a small public company headquartered in Rochester. Beginning in 2003, I was instrumental in reinventing the company by selling off or disposing of existing business units, starting up an IT services business and generating consistently increasing revenues in a very competitive environment. Customers included federal government agencies such as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (Headquarters), the U.S. Postal Service, State governments and enterprise level commercial clients.
I have practiced law for several major law firms, served as General Counsel to an investment banking firm (also heading up that firm’s Corporate Finance Department), and worked as Senior Trial Counsel in the General Counsel’s office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.
I am proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Next Level and Beyond, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to train, educate and motivate pre-collegiate student-athletes to live up to their fullest athletic potential, while at the same time teaching them life skills that will help prepare them for their lives and careers beyond sports. I also serve on the Board of Directors of Community Assistance of NY, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to partner with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities to foster independence and inclusion in all aspects of life development. Finally, I am a member of the Board of Directors of Franchise for Good, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation whose goal is to facilitate the path to prosperity through home ownership and affordable rental properties that feature individualized design.
I earned my B.A. from Cornell University and my J.D. from the Cornell University School of Law.
